We are about self expression, not painting. It's about emotion, not technique. This is not a class, we don't want to teach. We simply want you to be you & create. Our Studio is a sanctuary for self-expression & self-discovery. Our Studio holds pure energy & produces positive vibrations. The atmosphere at the studio is truly special - Smooth jazz or techno will echo & the wind will often be singing. Come as you are - be free, be joyful, live in the moment & create!

Freeform

Freeform is the purest form of expression at our Studio. You can smash & splash the paint, spin your canvas like a frisbee or jump on it like a monkey. You can paint the wall, floor & ceiling. You can throw paint on your friends. You can hang your canvas up & smash it with a baseball bat. You can do anything you want, go where your imagination takes you, create what you want, how you want - just be yourself & experience Freeform.

Smash Painting

Create puddles of paint, one on top of the other. Take a paint bottle and smash it down like a hammer, then be amazed by the beautiful textural formations.

Frisbee Art

Pour outrageous quantities of paint onto your canvas & then spin it like a freebiee. The end result is absolutely stunning.

Paint Fight

The beloved Paint Fight activity is the go to choice for parties. Once you are happy with the way your Canvas looks, you & your group can go wild throwing paint on each other. The experenace can be futher ehanched by getting more Paint from the Paint Bar or opting for Water based Paint barrels from the paint bar.

Paint the Wall

You can express, play & create on the largest Canvas of them all - The Wall. You can also choose to paint the wall white by purchasing white wall paint from the Add on Bar & then begin to create on it. (You are not limited to creating only on the wall, you can also create on the floor & ceiling.)

Fluid Art Texture

Splatter paint across the centre of the canvas, to the point the canvas is drowning in paint, then simply pick the canvas up and move it around to create gorgeous fluid textures.

Neon Nights (8pm onwards)

Neon Nights at Shades of Joy will open a new dimension of perception. All will change as the black light will illuminate. Colours will appear magnificent & with extreme vibrancy. Art has never looked so good in the night. All Art activities that involve paint can be done under neon lights. Just pick the 8pm time slot & it will be a Neon Night.

Spatial Expression is Freeform unbound - no canvas, no borders, no frame. The walls are your canvas. The floor is your playground. The poles, the corners, the air itself is all yours. There’s no fixed surface here - only space and freedom. You can paint a single tile or claim an entire wall. You can create something precise or go wild with chaos. You can layer stories in every direction or keep it minimal and pure. This is a place to throw, splash, drip, smear or start a full-blown paint fight with your peers, No one will ever say no. There are no rules here. Only space - and what you choose to do with it.

Explore our fully modular paint bar, choose any art supplies and let your imagination lead - it’s all about your vibe and your expression. As the sun sets, everything shifts. The space transforms under vibrant neon lights, your art begins to glow, and trance and techno fill the air - igniting a surreal, electric atmosphere. Whether you’re here to paint, vibe, or just soak it all in, Freedom Fridays is where boundaries dissolve and creativity and community take over.
